Anderson Fire Protection, Inc. was recently honored by the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) of Metro Washington for our safety record. Anderson Fire Protection was awarded the prestigious 2016 Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) award. This award is used to recognize the safety and health of the workers in the workplace. At Anderson Fire Protection, Inc., we believe in giving individuals opportunities in the workplace which is why we have an Apprenticeship Program.
About the Apprenticeship Program
The apprenticeship program is a four-year program. During this program, the student will spend a total of 8,000 hours working to reach journeymen level status. At the end of the program, a sprinkler fitter will be able to read blueprints, layouts, install hangers and overhead piping, and have the ability to install all types of fire protection systems. During the program, the apprentice will also attend related instructional classes for a minimum of 144 hours per year. Once the program is complete, the apprentice will begin working with Anderson Fire Protection, Inc. as a journeyman.
About the Award
The STEP award is used to recognize a company who has made it a mission to ensure each of their workers is safe and healthy. Participating ABC members measure their safety processes and policies using a detailed questionnaire with a goal of implementing or enhancing their safety programs in order to reduce job site incidence rates.
